In 2015 I'll have a bit of updating to do here to. Our old website focused on 'gardening', but we've grown in-real-life to do much more.
Part of homesteading, or just frugal gardening if that's your interest, is being resourceful.
Our first chicken coop was built with scrap lumber and also some hardware I'd purchased at Habitat-ReStore.
Cost: About $100
About that same time, a fella asked one of the handiest fellas we knew if he could build a coop for him and then showed him the plans he'd purchased.
Cost: Over $1,000
I know he didn't have an extra $900 laying around. And neither do most people.
And that where DIY (Do-It-Yourself) comes into play. We'll be adding our projects here in 2015.
